Team USA, winners of the 33rd and 34th Americas Cup, needed a design to match their competitive attitude. The designs scale to cover the hulls, wings, soft sails, and underwater foils, and flex to apply to modern materials like carbon-fiber and Kevlar. The sail art was inspired by Japanese brushwork, reflective of masterful craftsmanship and the marriage of water and ink. The idea of a dark horse and drag racing car numbers completed the design lexicon. For the 34th America's Cup, the designs transformed once again to cover the massive AC72, which is twice as long as the previous boat design and sports a 130-foot tall wingsail.
